1967 Saab Sonnet

1967 Saab Sonnet

One of about 258 two stroke Sonetts ever made, this vehicle was the best balanced Saab I ever owned. As an autocross car, on a tight course, it could take the 500 horsepower Camaros and other muscle cars on a mildly tuned 841 cc engine. The three carburetors I am convinced were made just small enough so the pistons could not fly out. It was overcarbureted so a little balky from a stop, and started running really smooth around 80mph when the drag got high enough to put a load on the motor.

Fun Junker

This FJ-55 we found in a junk yard, with the windshield smashed. It had a Chevy 262 Cu In V8, the smallest V8 Chevy ever made. The fenders were rusty, the interior a bit trashy. The conversion was obviously not an after market kit. It was fun to drive since it had more spunk and more RPM than the six that came with them, a poor copy of the Chevy 235.  Never got it to be reliable, ended up selling it for $1200. Bought it for $350 but it was probably a wash. Only car I ever painted with a roller.

 The Saturn Vue, 2003

The Saturn Vue was the second Saturn I owned. Not to be content with it stock, it got 18″ road wheels and some high performance Toyo Proxes. 2-1/2″ lowering springs rounded out the chassis mods and with the plastic body made for a nice handling SUV. The Cadillac V6 and all wheel drive was nice, but I have driven better.
