Sea Stories

underway replenishment   Those old aviators know a good sea story or two. And they know that sea stories and fairy tales are different. First, sea stories are usually based on reality, but embellished over the years in telling, never letting the truth get in the way of a good story.  Fairy tales are pure fabrication. Of course, the two are easily discerned. A fairy tale starts out “Once Upon a Time . . .”. A sea story, on the other hand, is prefaced by “This is no S___!”

Some of these tales were experienced, some were overheard or witnessed.  And as in days of old, many have been passed down the generations verbally. Some of these fables are composites, that is the combining of experiences or stories.  I have included a bit of all in these pages for the entertainment value and so they might be chronicled for another generation.
